The City of Hermantown will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Hermantown Marketplace Monument sign at the intersection of Maple Grove Road and Haines Road on at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 26.
The ceremony will also recognize all of the work that has been done in the 600-acre Marketplace within the last 18 months. In addition to the many existing businesses in the Marketplace, recent additions include Kwik Trip, Fleet Farm, Holiday Inn Express and St. Luke’s Miller Creek Medical Clinic. The city is in discussion with Platinum Properties on a 120,000 square foot multi-use development and a local development team looking at an apartment project.
The city is also in varying stages of infrastructure improvements within the Marketplace. A roadway improvement project encompassing two-thirds of a mile along Market Street and Loberg Road provides an improved driving surface, sidewalks, and pedestrian lighting for this area of the Marketplace.
The city is undertaking a trunk sanitary sewer extension south of Maple Grove Road which will allow for the future development of 220 acres of land and is slated to be completed in the late fall of 2019. This sanitary sewer project along with a future proposed trail system will enhance the development opportunities within the Marketplace district.
