In conjunction with Hermantown’s 36th annual SummerFest, city officials will celebrate the opening of two new fire halls on Thursday.
Fire Hall #2, which is located at the corner of Stebner Road and Morris Thomas Road, will feature a short dedication ceremony at 9 a.m. featuring members of the Hermantown Volunteer Fire Department, city administrators, city council members and Mayor Wayne Boucher.
Fire Hall #3, located at the corner of Midway Road and Rose Road, will have a similar dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. Both dedications will be followed by an open house, in order for members of the public to see the new fire halls.
“In any other year, these would be major projects for Hermantown, but we have a great deal of unique development occurring in our city at this time,” said John Mulder, Hermantown City Administrator. “The truth is that these important additions to our community are going to serve Hermantown for decades and add to the quality of our top-notch volunteer fire department.”
Hermantown SummerFest opens Wednesday and continues through Sunday. It is a community-wide celebration with multiple events happening across the city over the five days. A full SummerFest schedule can be found at www.hermantownmn.com.
