Early May snow event wallops Duluth, region

Duluth shattered a 117-year-old snowfall record for May 8 when 8.3 inches of new snowfall fell before midnight, according to the National Weather Service of Duluth.

The good news is the fresh snow is melting and won’t last long, with highs expected in the upper 40’s today and exploding into the 50’s through the weekend.
