Western Lake Superior Sanitary District’s Yard Waste Compost Site will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursdays through Mondays.
The facility will be closed Monday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veteran’s Day and closing for the season after business hours on Nov. 18.
“It’s crunch time!” said Sarah Lerohl, Environmental Program Coordinator. “Residents hoping to dispose of leaves, pumpkins, rotten apples and other yard waste at the Yard Waste Compost Site have just two weekends left to drop them off. The material collected helps to feed our composting microbes all winter long and we’ve got room for whatever residents want to deliver.”
WLSSD accepts leaves, grass clippings and garden waste at no charge and brush for a fee. Garden Green® compost is also sold in bags. The Yard Waste Compost Site is located at 27th Avenue West & the Waterfront, behind Gate 19 at the end of the road.
Western Lake Superior Sanitary District provides award-winning wastewater and solid waste services to residents, businesses and industries within its 500 square mile legislative boundaries in southern St. Louis and northern Carlton counties, and is a nationally recognized leader in pollution prevention.
