Students from Lester Park Elementary School will be spreading holiday cheer at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center on Thursday.
The students have been working on ornaments and decorating small trees, which they will deliver to Essentia patients starting at 11:30 a.m. in the Duluth Clinic Third Street Building (400 East Third Street).
The project began years ago when a young boy told his family he’d like to give back to the nurses and doctors who had helped save his little brother’s life following a severe burn. It became his personal “giving” project to donate spirit-of-the-season trees to patients who may not be able to go home for the holidays.
The project’s success has touched the lives of hundreds of Essentia patients over the years.
