As the COVID-19 virus continues to dramatically impact our communities, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland’s first and foremost concern is the health and welfare of its under-resourced and at-risk children.
At present the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland sites will be closed the following days:
. Dave Goldberg Branch – Closing today – Tuesday, March 17 starting at 5:00 pm – Friday, March 27
. Lincoln Park Branch – Closed Wednesday, March 18 – Friday, March 27
. Superior Branch – Closed Wednesday, March 18 – Friday, March 27
. Grand Rapids and Greenway Branches – Closed Wednesday, March 18 – Friday, March 27
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland is constantly evaluating the situation and these dates may be subject to change as it learns more in the coming days and weeks.
Please check the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland website for updates on this rapidly evolving crisis, at www.bgcnorth.org
The Club staff are in the process of developing online resources for its members to interact virtually with the Clubs. It is also looking into options to supplement the school breakfast and lunch programs by continuing to provide dinner to members in a to-go format from its Lincoln Park site.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland site directors and staff are also working hard to help families and kids feel less isolated, more supported, and most importantly continue to fulfill the Club’s mission of empowering and inspiring all young people, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential as caring, productive, responsible citizens.
Since 1971, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland (www.bgcnorth.org) has been in the forefront of youth development in Duluth and the surrounding area. In 2018, the Clubs served over 96,000 healthy meals and snacks, provided over 2,500 hours of tutoring and reached over 8,000 youth through memberships and community outreach programs.
