The 12th annual Essentia Health Fit-n-Fun program will take place on Tuesday at the Malosky Stadium track at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
The Essentia Health Fit-n-Fun Run is held each May for third, fourth and fifth graders attending Duluth Public Elementary Schools. Each year nearly 2,000 students run a quarter of a mile in celebration of the end of the school year and the hard work they put forth in their physical education classes. At the end of their race, students are presented with a ribbon and commemorative t-shirt.
In 2008, Grandma’s Marathon and the Young Athletes Foundation partnered with Essentia Health to create the Fit-n-Fun program. The initiative is aimed toward motivating children to lead healthier lifestyles. The Fit-n-Fun Run is presented by Essentia Health. Additional support is provided by Duluth Public Schools, Advantage Emblem & Screen Printing, University of Minnesota-Duluth, the Young Athletes Foundation and Grandma’s Marathon.
