Candy cane red welcomes in the holiday season

Red curtains will be installed in the storefronts of 19 businesses throughout Duluth’s Downtown Waterfront on Monday. It’s all part of the Greater Downtown Council’s annual Storefront Window Display and Lighting Contest.

Businesses will have the red curtains hanging in their windows throughout the week in order to hide the assembly work going on behind the scenes. Windows will then be unveiled on Friday, November 16, prior to the Christmas City of the North Parade.

Downtown residents, employees and visitors are all encouraged to vote for their favorite holiday window display and become eligible to win one of many downtown gifts offered by our merchants. The entire array of gifts available to win will be on display at downtownduluth.com.

Participating businesses include A & L Properties, Art in the Alley, CSL Plasma Services, Duluth Area Family YMCA, Duluth Coffee Company, Duluth Pack, Duluth Trading Company, Electric Fetus, Fitger’s, Grandma’s Marathon, Lake Superior Art Glass, Lester River Trading Co, Market Day Duluth, Minnesota Power, Minnesota Surplus & Outfitters, PS Rudie, Salon Capelli, Tischer Photographic Gallery and Whimsy.
