DULUTH, Minn. — Each year, Essentia Health honors inspiring members of the community that have overcome disabilities and serve as an example to others.
The 20th annual Journey Award will be presented at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, in the lobby of the Miller-Dwan Building in Duluth.
The Journey Award recognizes outstanding individuals whose contributions have made a difference in the lives of people with disabilities. The Junior Journey Award recognizes a person age 18 or younger who demonstrates optimal use of his or her abilities.
Also at the ceremony, the Ernie Pearson Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented. Each year, this award goes to an Essentia staff member or rehabilitation professional that has provided exceptional motivation to those with disabilities. The award is named for Ernie Pearson, a late social worker and case manager at Essentia Health-Polinsky Medical Rehabilitation Center who exemplified an undaunted spirit.
