Audiologist Kelsey Putvin has joined the Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic. She will care for patients of all ages.
“Audiology is an incredibly diverse field with a wide range of potential experiences,” said utvin. “Essentia offers many services to patients dealing with hearing difficulties and balance disorders, so I jumped at the opportunity to join this team.”
Putvin earned a doctorate degree in audiology from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
“The patient-centered aspect of audiology was a large part of what drew me to this profession,” said Putvin. “I love getting to know my patients, and I truly enjoy the experience of helping them hear and communicate better with their families and loved ones.”

Nurse practitioner Mark Lykins has joined the Urology Department at the Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic.
Lykins has worked at Essentia Health as a registered nurse caring for urology and orthopedic patients in the hospital for the past six years.
“I’ve had a great experience working here, and have always been impressed with my colleagues and patients,” he explains. “It was an easy decision to continue here as I transition from a registered nurse to a nurse practitioner.”
Lykins earned a master’s of science in nursing degree from Minnesota State University-Mankato. He is certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
“After working in the hospital urology setting, I developed a positive rapport with many patients and their families,” says Lykins. “I’m thrilled to be able to continue to care for urology patients in a new capacity.”

Nurse practitioner Melissa DeVries has joined Emergency Medicine Department at Essentia Health-Virginia.
DeVries grew up on the Iron Range and most of her family still lives in the area.
“After working as a registered nurse in Emergency Medicine for seven years, I jumped at the chance to continue that work close to home as a nurse practitioner,” she explains.
DeVries earned a master’s degree in nursing from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She is certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
