The Duluth Northern Stars will play host to Champlin Park in a nonconference high school girls hockey game at 7:30 p.m. today at Essentia Health Heritage Center. The Northern Stars are 0-1 after losing their season and home opener against Cambridge-Isanti, 5-3, on Tuesday. Senior forward Izzy Sutherland had two goals for Duluth, and sophomore goaltender Sarah Spencer was brilliant with 30 saves.

The Bulldogs men’s hockey team, still minus top wing Joey Anderson who remains out of the lineup with an upper-body injury sustained in a physical game at Maine Oct. 28, begins a two-game weekend National Collegiate Hockey Conference series at Miami at 6:35 p.m. today. UMD is 5-5-2 overall and 1-3-0 in the league, good for a last-place tie with Nebraska-Omaha with three points. Miami is 4-5-1 and 1-2-1.
