Minnesota Prep Hockey: Top-ranked Hermantown clips Grand Rapids

Senior forward Tyler Watkins scored two goals, including a game-winning shorthanded goal midway in the third period, to lead No. 1/1A Hermantown to a 3-1 victory over unranked/2A Grand Rapids in a matchup between defending Minnesota high school hockey champions tonight in Hermantown.

Brady Baker also had a goal for the Hawks, who out-shot the Thunderhawks 50-11.

Cole Manahan stopped 10 of 11 shots for Hermantown (7-3-2), which plays host to Duluth Denfeld on Thursday and visits No. 2/2A Minnetonka Saturday.
