Lake Superior College nursing students will participate in a formal nurse’s pinning ceremony in the LSC Commons on Thursday at 5 p.m. to acknowledge their graduate status as professional nurses.
“Our traditional pinning ceremony is meant to welcome our new nursing graduates into the nursing profession,” said LSC Nursing Program Director Deborah Amys. “The graduates are presented with nursing pins by the faculty or a loved one chosen by the graduate.”
Fifty-two students will graduate this December from LSC’s nursing program, which is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), completing their professional nursing A.S. degree. This qualifies them to take the Minnesota state nursing exam to become registered nurses.
The public is welcome to attend the free pinning ceremony, with a reception to follow.
