Lake Superior College Student Senate to host local state legislators

Lake Superior College Student Senate will host several local state legislators as part of a Know Your Legislators campus event Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

As the legislative session draws closer, LSC Student Senate wants to ensure that all Duluth area citizens, and especially LSC students, have a chance to have their voices heard. Senator Erik Simonson and Representatives Liz Olson, Jennifer Schultz and Mary Murphy have been invited to participate. The legislators will have lunch with student leaders between 11 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., speak to a political science class at 12:30 p.m., and then participate in an open forum between 1 p.m. and 1:45 p.m.

LSC Student Senate President Dillon Forcier helped organize the event and is grateful that several legislators have agreed to visit campus.

“This is a great opportunity for our students and legislators,” said Forcier. “It is an exuberant way that we can learn what our representatives do for us in St. Paul and how we can be involved.”
