After four successful Pop-Up campaigns, the Greater Downtown Council is again seeking retailers who would be interested in short-term storefront space in Downtown Duluth. The Pop-Up Downtown program is back for the holidays and property owners are again offering to provide the space rent-free for approximately two-three months.
Pop-Up Downtown is aimed at activating vacant storefronts during the holiday season. Businesses interested in being considered for the program must be operational by November 25, which is Small Business Saturday.
“This program has been successful in helping several businesses become long-term tenants in the downtown,” said Kristi Stokes, president of the Greater Downtown Council. “It’s a great partnership with property owners who wish to activate some vacant space while giving an entrepreneur a chance to test the market.”
Individuals who are interested should contact the GDC by calling 727-8549 or emailing Stokes at firstname.lastname@example.org. A very brief letter/email of interest is recommended in which applicants explain their interest in the project, relevant experience and ability to complete the project for the November 25 start date. Additional guidelines and information on available space can be found at www.downtownduluth.com. Act promptly; the GDC hopes to match businesses with spaces later this month.

Note: This is a fluid document as property owners are not prevented from leasing their current vacant space prior to getting matched up with a program participant. Property owners are also allowed the final decision to accept a potential program participant. In addition, potential new space could get added to the program.
