Robots designed and built by four Integrated Manufacturing student teams will be put to the competitive task on Thursday at 1 p.m. at LSC’s Downtown Center. The event is free and open to the public.
“The event showcases original robot design by students as well as demonstrating different team approaches to mechanical challenges,” said Integrated Manufacturing Engineering CAD Technology faculty member Rich Kresky. “It’s always interesting to see what students come up with as the finished design.”
The robots are challenged to pick up rubber practice golf balls, travel through an obstacle course, and throw them into a five-gallon bucket. The number of successful throws by a robot in the least amount of time wins. Past robotic task challenges have included moving ping pong balls, buckets of sand, water balloons, and raw eggs through obstacle courses.
