UW-Superior Music Department to present Opera Scenes

SUPERIOR, Wis. – Students from the University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department will perform scenes from the music theatre and comic opera genres for Opera Scenes on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Thorpe Langley Auditorium.

The evening will include music and staging scenes from “Hansel & Gretel,” by Engelbert Humperdinck; “The Elixir of Love,” by Gaetano Donizetti; “Into the Woods and Company,” by Stephen Sondheim; and “Street Scene,” by Kurt Weill.

“Audience members will get a little taste of some of the highlight moments in each of these shows,” said Vicki Fingalson, associate professor of voice and director of opera workshop at UW-Superior. “Opera Workshop is a wonderful way for students to explore and develop their overall performance skills.”

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and free for students. The Thorpe Langley Auditorium is located in Old Main at 1710 Weeks Ave. in Superior.
