Payton Budisalovich scored at 5:32 of overtime to lift Duluth Denfeld to a stunning, 4-3 high school boys hockey victory over Greenway at Hodgins-Berardo Arena in Coleraine, Minn.

Zach DeCaro scored two goals and added an assist for the Hunters.

Sophomore forward Kade Shea also scored for Duluth Denfeld (4-0), and sophomore Jacob Snyder stopped 50 of 53 shots.

Budisalovich and DeCaro, both senior forwards, are tied for the team scoring lead with six goals and 12 points apiece.

Greenway, Minnesota’s fourth-ranked team in Class 1A, fell to 2-1 overall.

Duluth Denfeld, Greenway and Virginia are expected to challenge heavy favorite and Minnesota Class 1A top-ranked Hermantown for the Section 7A championship later this season.

Duluth Denfeld lost 77-67 to host Hermantown in a Lake Superior Conference high school boys basketball game. The Hunters (1-1) will play host to Bloomington Jefferson at 1 p.m. Saturday at historic Denfeld Gym, beginning a three-game homestand.

Duluth East played host to Cloquet in a girls-boys doubleheader at East Gym. The Greyhounds girls lost 66-50. Macy Hermanson had a team-high 10 points for Duluth East.

The Duluth Northern Stars high school girls hockey team lost 5-0 to Proctor-Hermantown in a Lake Superior Conference game at Essentia Duluth Heritage Center. The Northern Stars (1-7) will host Champlin Park-Coon Rapids on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Essentia.
