FEMA housing inspectors to begin touring St. Louis County

Residents affected by June flood encouraged to fill out online form to request visit.

FEMA housing inspectors have arrived in St. Louis County and informed county emergency management that they are prepared to start inspecting homes affected by the June flood as soon as Saturday, August 3. These inspections are crucial for those seeking FEMA financial aid.

Following the Presidential Disaster Declaration for the June flood, federal aid is accessible to qualified homeowners and renters. This includes grants for temporary housing and repairs, low-interest loans for uninsured property losses, and other recovery assistance programs.

Homeowners and renters with flood damage should apply online at disasterassistance.gov to schedule a FEMA inspection.

The application requires:

  • Home address with ZIP code
  • Home damage condition
  • Available insurance details
  • Social Security number
  • Contact phone number
  • Mailing address or email address
For those unable to apply online, the contact number is 1-800-621-3362.

FEMA inspectors will carry an ID badge with their photo and name, and they do not charge for inspections.

Note that these inspections are solely for residential properties. Commercial property assessments will occur later.
