Fralich appointed to the Sixth Judicial District bench

By Kelli Latuska

In a press release from the Governor’s office, Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan announced today the appointment of Jessica Fralich as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Sixth Judicial District.

“It has been a privilege to serve the City of Duluth as City Attorney,” said Fralich of the announcement. “I have truly enjoyed the work and the people, and I will carry the lessons I have learned to the bench. I am honored to have received this appointment from Governor Walz and I look forward to continuing my public service in this new role.”

"I'm absolutely thrilled for Attorney Fralich. It was an honor to write her a letter of support, and also be a reference,” Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert said of the news. “The Governor clearly saw what we have seen – a fair and impartial professional with a deep and diverse legal background. Our loss is the State of Minnesota's gain."

A specific timeline is not yet available on Fralich’s departure nor on filling the role of City Attorney once vacant.

"Clearly, this is one of the most important leadership roles we have in the City, and identifying our next City Attorney is a top priority," offered Mayor Reinert. “Meanwhile, we have an incredibly solid legal team at the City, and our next City Attorney may even already be with us."
