Construction of a new bridge crossing the Whiteface River near Meadowlands is complete and County State Aid Highway 133 is now open again. The previous bridge was nearly 60 years old and had a poor rating. Replacing it now prevented the need for load restrictions on this highly traveled road.
Additional finishing details are still in progress while the road is now open. Motorists are reminded to slow down and use caution while traveling through or near the work zone.
Reconstruction of the bridge is part of a $24.9 million Bridge Bundle contract to replace a total of 21 deteriorating bridges and box culverts. Funding comes in part from a $10.3 million federal grant awarded to the county in August 2019.
Redstone Construction was the contractor for this project.
