Elite forward Cassie McClure had a goal and an assist as the Duluth Northern Stars lost their 2018-19 opener Tuesday night at nonconference Cambridge-Isanti, 5-4.
The Northern Stars (0-1) trailed 5-2 but rallied behind third-period goals by Maddie Smith and McClure.
Molly Henderson scored at 4:59 of the first period to give Duluth an early 1-0 lead.
Sarah Spencer had 25 saves for Duluth, which will play host to Benilde-St. Margaret’s on Friday and Roseville Saturday at Essentia Duluth Heritage Center.
