A Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert post on Facebook talking about a recent tour of the new St. Scholastica Student Center: "Go Saints! Great to be back on campus recently for a tour of the new Student Center. Before being elected Mayor, I was a licensed attorney and an adjunct faculty professor at CSS. For the better part of 20 years I taught political science and history at both the undergrad and graduate level. Lake Superior College, UMD, and most recently CSS. Last fall I taught legal classes to undergrad business students. Contracts, negligence, employment law, agency, and real property. I have spent most of my adult life teaching in some form or another, and being back on campus definitely made me miss it!
The new student center is 100% privately-funded, and when complete will be a great spot for students, faculty, and alumni to gather. A place on the CSS campus to foster community, and a space that characterizes this beautiful campus. The student center project is ahead of schedule and under budget. It should be open in time for the Fall Semester at St. Scholastica."
Another Reinert Facebook post: "VERY exciting week this week in the Mayor’s Office as we welcome my two key staff members: Jessica Hehir and John Dukich to the team. Jess is my point person on communications and marketing, and John has lead on policy and government affairs. Jess has a background of more than 20 years’ experience in applied communications and marketing. She will plan and direct public information programs, coordinate overall marketing efforts, and serve as the primary contact in the Mayor’s Office for major events and other City of Duluth sponsorships. Jess transfers to this role from the Life Safety Division of the Duluth Fire Department.
John brings a depth of legislative experience to his new position. He joined the City of Duluth from the Minnesota Department of Transportation and has worked with the Minnesota Technology Association and former Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton’s Task Force on Broadband. In his role, he will conduct policy research and development, lead intergovernmental relations, and serve as mayoral proxy at designated functional groups engaged in policy development. Both Jess and John will serve as liaisons between the mayor’s office and constituents and represent me at various meetings and events. I am thrilled to have them joining the team. Please welcome them both aboard!
