The College of St. Scholastica today announced an innovative addition to its suite of online educational offerings: the Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence.
Launching in January 2025, the graduate-level program is designed to equip professionals of nearly any industry with the skills and knowledge required to excel in the rapidly expanding field of artificial intelligence.
Designed for individuals aiming to leverage artificial intelligence to address real-world challenges, the certificate program focuses on the strategic adoption of artificial intelligence, ethical implications and the development of hands-on AI solutions. Rather than diving into the technical aspects of AI, St. Scholastica's certificate emphasizes practical application, preparing graduates to lead with integrity and innovation in any industry.
"Artificial intelligence is reshaping the landscape across all sectors, and there's a growing demand for professionals who can not only understand but also ethically apply AI solutions," said Joseph Janchar, the program’s admissions counselor. "Our Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence is uniquely positioned to meet this demand, offering a comprehensive curriculum that balances strategic insight with practical skills.
“We’ve specifically designed the certificate to be accessible to professionals from nearly any industry, regardless of their background in AI or even technology. Our goal is to equip professionals with the skills needed to leverage AI, helping their organizations stay competitive, increase operational efficiency and drive innovation forward."
Upon completion, graduates will have the skills to design, build and apply AI solutions in a variety of innovative ways, including automating routine tasks, enhancing decision-making processes and revolutionizing services and strategies. Graduates will also be able to develop AI governance strategies within their organizations, as well as critically evaluate the ethical considerations of AI applications.
"From design and implementation to governance and ethics, our graduates will be well-equipped to lead AI initiatives," said Janchar. "This certificate isn't just about understanding artificial intelligence; it's about applying it effectively and responsibly to make a tangible impact."
The program consists of four 3-credit courses, totaling 12 credits, with no prerequisites required. This flexible structure allows students to begin their studies at any one of the six start times throughout the year, taking courses in any sequence that suits them. Applications for the program are accepted on a rolling basis, with six start dates per year from January 2025.
