QUOTE ME, HOWIE

Howie

Legendary Duluth-area sports broadcaster Brian Prudhomme on Duluth East boys hockey's 2-1 overtime home victory over Brainerd on Thursday, and looking ahead to Greyhounds' boys and girls basketball home games tonight – “As oddly as that game ended, it was a win that East really needed and seemed to deserve. Hopefully, it can be a springboard for them simply by having the weight of being winless taken off their shoulders. Too many people get caught up in the name and reputation of 'Duluth East Hockey' and don’t realize how young the East team is this season. There’s a lot of learning on the fly for both the players and coaches with no soft part of the schedule. People said it when Mike (Randolph) coached and I think it applies to Steve's (Pitoscia) teams too: Don’t judge them in December, judge them by where they are on February 1.”

“I am excited to see both the boys and the girls from East battle Osseo. Doing the public address work there is something I take great pride in and consider it an honor. From the start of the JV games to the end of the varsity evening, I try to bring energy on the microphone and make it an event for all to enjoy. Yet the enjoyment truly comes from the kids and their efforts. I think you’ll see student-athletes playing with confidence tonight. The girls have won three straight and the boys are coming off a victory as well. They are starting to trust their abilities and the coaching staff has the ability to maximize the talent on the team. Osseo traditionally makes things difficult for opponents so it will be a fun-filled evening of basketball.”
