Colten St. Clair, head coach of the Minnesota Wilderness, announced his immediate resignation Wednesday to become head coach at Omaha of the USHL. In response, the Wilderness appointed assistant coach Evan Alexius as interim head coach and Kevin Smalley, the director of player personnel, as interim assistant coach. Alexius and Smalley will lead the team for the upcoming weekend games in Springfield, IL, against the Springfield Jr. Blues and will continue in their interim roles until a permanent head coach is appointed. St. Clair, hailing from Gilbert, AZ, concludes his second season with the Wilderness, leaving behind a regular season record of 33-30-6 and a playoff record of 1-3. During his tenure, he also facilitated NCAA Division 1 commitments for three players in the 2023-24 season: Ashton Dahms to Minnesota-Duluth, Ren Morque to the Air Force Academy, and Gustavs Ozolins to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
